Alternative Investments

The edge is in the data. Private markets don’t trade daily, so whoever

solves the data challenge gains a competitive advantage. Adeptyx is at the forefront of building technical documentation driving Feature planning and Agile workflows to support the full alternative investment lifecycle. In this newsletter, we will examine components of the alternative investment lifecycle impacting operational, product, and database architecture challenges. The core theme will be the influence of existing database architecture on a firm's capability to efficiently house alternative investment transaction data. Our initial topic is Data Feed Integration - Firms commonly engage technology partners to manage the electronic document workflow in alignment with fund companies to facilitate transactions. Although it is often overlooked, Data Feed Integration forms the foundation for automation and risk reduction within the alternative investment lifecycle. Operational risks associated with absent or unreliable data feeds can lead to significant transaction delays and may require clients to correct previously processed documentation. Similarly, product and technology risks related to faulty data feeds can result in the development of features or tools based on inaccurate data, ultimately contributing to substantial technical debt. The accompanying visual illustrates three scenarios: two involving unreliable data feeds and one demonstrating a reliable data feed.

At face value the transaction lifecycle for an alternative investment can be overwhelming and require multiple unforeseen partnerships contingent on different portions of the process.

Typically the first few questions a firm begins with are:

"Where do we start and what do we prioritize?"

"What are my business, product, and operational needs to support this framework?"

"What type of data integrations are required?"

"What is the state of our database architecture?"

"How do we scale?"

Managing this blend of business and technical discussions can be difficult for a firm often resulting in open-ended questions. At Adeptyx we're here to bridge those discussions - leveraging and expanding on existing Agile workflow concepts, we bring a

framework on how to consider the alternative investment lifecycle from data feed integration through position valuation and statement generation. We'll be sharing a portion of each framework component for transparency and education. We encourage any firm interested in learning more about how Adeptyx could help improve on any portion of the alternative investment lifecycle to reach out to schedule a discovery call focused on your portfolio model. ----- The next topic of the Alternative Investment lifecycle will cover four mutually related, but separate components. Each component is sequenced along the Alternative Investment

lifecycle and has varying weight as it relates to operational, product, and database architecture considerations. We will cover one and two during our next post and then covering three and four in a later edition.

Did You Know:

Private markets now account for nearly half of global institutional portfolios, with alternatives outpacing traditional equities in institutional allocation growth.

Unlike equities, there is no terminal for private markets — every firm is building their own “mini terminal” with feeds, docs, and APIs stitched together.

Over 70% of alternative investment data is still unstructured (docs, PDFs, LP reports), creating a huge tech and integration challenge compared to public markets.
